Biography: Jim Sturgess (born 1981) is a British actor. Although primarily active in television, he has also appeared in film and radio. He is perhaps most famous for playing Jude in Across the Universe and the younger Charlie in The Quest series of TV movies.
Jim Sturgess was born James Sturgess in London. He is a former member of the National Youth Music Theatre (1993-95) and studied at the University of Salford’s School of Media, Music and Performance.
Sturgess played and sung the role of Jude, the male lead in the musical film Across the Universe, and also plays George Boleyn in The Other Boleyn Girl, which will be released in 2008. Sturgess will star in the upcoming film, 21 based on the 2002 Ben Mezrich best seller, Bringing Down the House: The Inside Story of Six MIT Students Who Took Vegas for Millions.

Sony Pictures has cast relative unknown Jim Sturgess to co-star alongside Kevin Spacey in their upcoming blackjack flick 21. The film, which seems like it has been in development for ever, follows the true story a group of MIT students who with the help of a professor (Spacey) team up to master card-counting and win millions in Vegas. The film is based on “Bringing Down the House: The Inside Story of Six MIT Students Who Took Vegas for Millions” by Ben Mezrich, which Spacey optioned in 2002 and has been trying to get off the ground ever since. Sturgess hasn’t been seen in much yet but has two major projects on the way - the Beatles musical ACROSS THE UNIVERSE and THE OTHER BOLEYN GIRL with Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansson and Eric Bana. Directing 21 is Robert Luketic who recently ditched DALLAS and replaces Brett Ratner who circled 21 when it was titled BREAKING VEGAS. Production on the film is scheduled to begin in February.
